Trainee director call out

Submissions for this initiative have now closed.

This is an opportunity for a Directing Traineeship, under director Dino Dimitriadis. Apocalypse Theatre Company and Green Door Theatre Company are joining together in 2019 to co-produce two World Premieres by James Elazzi: Lady Tabouli, as part of Griffin Theatre Company’s Batch Festival and Omar and Dawn as part of KXT bAKEHOUSE’s 2019 mainstage season.

Both companies have a strong commitment to representation, and we are keen to upskill the next generation of Queer theatre makers. This traineeship is an opportunity to work closely with and learn from award winning Artistic Director of Apocalypse, Dino Dimitriadis who has a extensive knowledge of and body of Queer work. You will work with him as he directs both Lady Tabouli and Omar and Dawn.

The position would have an introduction to Dino’s process, and particular focus on Queer form and aesthetic. You will have access to Dino's collaborations with designers and will have access to all developments and rehearsals.

The Directing Trainee will need to be available a few times a week across April - July, however the co-producers will provide a flexible work environment. The role will be provided travel money for each day of participation.

We are specifically seeking an artist who is Queer-identifying AND non-binary or female-identifying.

To apply, please email greendoortheatreco@gmail.com with you availabilities across April-July, your CV, and a brief description of what you hope this position will do for your personal practice. Please put “DIRECTOR TRAINEESHIP” in the subject line.

If you haven’t had much experience in theatre or as a director, please don’t be discouraged from applying.

Applications close April 5 2019 at 5pm.
