Green Door Theatre Company and Darlinghurst Theatre are calling out to emerging and aspiring Black artists across form who have interest or curiosity in working in theatre. Across the rehearsal period of the Australian premiere of seven methods of killing kylie jenner by Jasmine Lee-Jones, we’re offering three (3) Rehearsal Observers positions.

ABOUT THE PLAY:
Forbes Magazine claims Kylie Jenner’s a “self-made billionaire” and Cleo isn’t having a bar of it. She’s got a lot to say and on the internet, actions don’t always speak louder than words…

“Look it’s two tweets that helped me vent my frustrations. It’s really not that deep…”

As URL beef brings up IRL tensions, Cleo and Kara have more issues than getting #blocked will solve. If Black Twitter hasn’t snatched your edges yet, these two bawss-babes surely will. Deep diving into the murky waters of colourism and the commodification of Black women this duo is serving the tea hot and keeping receipts. PERIODT.

Rehearsal observers will have:

  • One full week of unlimited access to rehearsals to our upcoming production of seven methods of killing kylie jenner

  • The opportunity to learn from, frankly, a pretty impressive team of creatives— boasting award winning skills in everything from sound design to AV projection. Check them out here: https://www.darlinghursttheatre.com/sevenmethods

  • A one-on-one session with either Darlinghurst Theatre’s Co-Artistic Director (Amylia Harris) or Producer and Head of New Work (Leila Enright).

Payment will be a small honorary fee to cover travel expenses.

If interested, please email greendoortheatreco@gmail.com with the subject “REHEARSAL OBSERVER EOI” and a short paragraph (100 words) of why you are interested in this opportunity.

FAQ’s

1. Is there a min. age limit/requirement?

Great question, the short answer is: no there isn’t. We feel this opportunity would be valuable for folks interested in working in theatre from High School and up. Our aim is to demystify this often behind-closed-doors process, make it less daunting and provide tangible avenues of entry & progression for Black emerging and aspiring creatives.

2. What is the time commitment ?

Rehearsals are full time Mon-Saturday (10-6pm), however there isn’t an expectation for you to be available for all this time. Understanding that people have various responsibilities around study, work and caring—flexibility to accommodate life is central to this. We will discuss schedule breakdown with successful applicants.
